Laurens Bekeman architekt, współzałożyciel pracowni BC architects & studies (Bruksela), doktorant i wykładowca uniwersytecki.
W swojej działalności Bekemans łączy praktykę projektową z badaniami nad materiałami budowlanymi i cyrkularnymi procesami konstrukcyjnymi. Jako lider inicjatywy BC materials rozwija zastosowanie lokalnych strumieni odpadów budowlanych do produkcji nowych materiałów – podejście, które przesuwa granice tradycyjnej architektury. Laurens prowadził m.in. projekt Design and Research Laboratory w ramach kampusu Atelier LUMA w Arles (Francja).
W ramach spotkania Bekemans przybliży, w jaki sposób architektura może funkcjonować jako narzędzie transformacji systemowej – od projektu, przez produkcję materiałów, po budowę i edukację. Biznesowa perspektywa „budowania jako prototypowania” zmusza do rewizji ról projektanta, inwestora i wykonawcy.
Spotkanie nie będzie nagrywane ani transmitowane, bo zależy nam na szczerej rozmowie i usłyszeniu się.
Pomysłodawcą cyklu jest warszawska pracownia TŁO prowadzona przez Michała Sikorskiego, która w projektowaniu architektury korzysta z pracy urbanistów i architektów krajobrazu. Realizuje budynki i przestrzenie użyteczności publicznej.
Pracownia opublikowała pracę badawczą na temat przestrzeni kampusów uniwersyteckich, a także przygotowała wystawę Poetyka konieczności w polskim pawilonie na London Design Biennale w 2023 roku. W grudniu 2024 pracownia wygrała międzynarodowy konkurs na przebudowę i rozbudowę Muzeum Architektury we Wrocławiu.

⬛ Architecture and the climate crisis. Social housing. Design as speculation and experiment. What drives young architects today?
We continue our series of meetings with selected architectural studios, which will share insights into their work ethos, chosen projects, how they have found their place on the domestic architectural scene, what being progressive means to them, and how they manage to survive under current professional and economic conditions.

The guest of the December meeting will be Søren Pihlmann, founder of Pihlmann Architects (Copenhagen).
Søren Pihlmann is an architect and the founder of Pihlmann Architects. His work combines design with strategic thinking about materials and context: by analysing what already exists and giving it new life, Pihlmann challenges traditional architectural models. In his projects, he demonstrates that resource efficiency and intellectual precision can go hand in hand with expressive form and meaning.
Søren has led, among others, the transformation of the Thoravej 29 office building in Copenhagen into a cultural centre through the “radical reuse” of the existing structure, and he designed the Danish Pavilion for the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale.
During the meeting, Pihlmann will discuss his approach of “building as adding on” — a practice based on revealing the structure and materials of a place rather than concealing them. His projects are not only buildings, but processes of transformation at the intersection of technology, materials, and the history of a site.
The meeting will not be recorded or streamed, as we wish to foster a sincere conversation and genuine exchange.
The idea for the series comes from the Warsaw-based studio TŁO, led by Michał Sikorski, which approaches architectural design through collaboration with urban planners and landscape architects. The studio creates public buildings and spaces, has published research on university campus design, and prepared the Poetics of Necessity exhibition for the Polish Pavilion at the London Design Biennale 2023. In December 2024, TŁO won the international competition for the redevelopment and expansion of the Museum of Architecture in Wrocław.
