Cykl wykładów „Jak kształtować przyszłość?” traktuje projekt „Wystawa musi trwać” jako punkt wyjścia do szerszej refleksji nad aspektami kultury i życia społecznego w Korei Południowej, które nadal są w Polsce nieznane.
Kuratorska koncepcja stworzenia miniaturowych pokazów w przestrzeni skrzynki lub walizki jest bezpośrednim nawiązaniem do gestu Marcela Duchampa. Pokazuje to, że idee sztuki awangardowej podróżowały globalnie i są interpretowane także poza zachodnimi obszarami kultury. Odwołanie do tradycji europejskiej awangardy rodzi pytanie o kształtowanie i przenikanie się procesów modernizacyjnych i awangardowych w Korei Południowej. Stąd w serii wykładów omawiane będą znaczące momenty w rozwoju nowoczesnej i współczesnej kultury artystycznej i wizualnej w Korei Południowej. Zadane zostaną pytania o to, jakie są źródła koreańskiej nowoczesności i czy podlegają one krytycznemu przepracowaniu we współczesnej kulturze. Podjęte zostaną również wątki związane z rozwojem tożsamości kulturowej w Korei Południowej w kontekście zachodzących procesów modernizacyjnych. Czy możliwe jest przewidzenie, jak rozwijać się będzie kulturowa tożsamość w przyszłości?

„Konsekwencje awangardy”

Artystyczne ruchy awangardowe nie są wcale specyfiką europejską. Teorie i manifesty rozprzestrzeniały się globalnie i obejmowały swoim zasięgiem Egipt, Etiopie, Meksyk, Chiny czy też Japonię. Wizjonerskie projekty kształtowania nowoczesnego społeczeństwa były ważną składową awangardowej gorączki. Jakie konsekwencje miała awangarda w krajach azjatyckich, skąd przeszczepiane były postępowe idee artystyczne? Czy wpłynęły one na rozwój sztuki nowoczesnej w Korei Południowej?

Series of lectures {How to shape the future?}
All lectures will be held on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.
The series of lectures treat the exhibition The Show Must Go On as a starting point for a broader reflection on aspects of culture and social life in South Korea which are still a niche in Poland.
The curatorial concept of creating the miniature shows in the area of a box or a suitcase is a direct reference to the significant gesture of Marcel Duchamp. Such a gesture pointed that ideas of avant-garde art circulated globally and they are interpreted outside of the western hemisphere. A reference to the European tradition of the avant-garde raises a question regarding permeation and moulding of modernization processes in South Korea. Hence, the series of lectures will address the issues of significant moments in the development of modern and contemporary artistic and visual culture in that country. There will be questions asked about the sources of Korean modernity and whether they are subject to a critical re-thinking in contemporary culture. Themes concerning the development of cultural identity in South Korea will also be engaged along with the ongoing modernization processes happening there. Last but not least, the participants of the lectures will speculate if it is possible to predict how the cultural identity will develop in the near future.

Artistic avant-garde movements were not only European specific. Theories and manifestos spread across the globe and reached Egypt, Ethiopia, Mexico, China and even Japan. Visionary projects of creating new modern society was a part of avant-garde fever. What were the consequences of the Avant-Garde in Asian countries and where were the progressive artistic ideas transplanted from?
