Warszawski wieczór autorski Mony Golabek: premiera polskiego wydania książki

W środę 27 czerwca o godz. 17:30 zapraszamy na spotkanie autorskie poświęcone książce "Dzieci z Willesden Lane. Pamiętnik muzyki, miłości i przetrwania". Spotkanie jest wyjątkową okazją, by poznać historię matki autorki, Lisy Jury, której jako młodej żydowskiej pianistki marzeniem był debiutancki koncert w wiedeńskiej sali koncertowej Musikverein. Jednak wraz z nowymi rozkazami po anszlusie Lisa była zmuszona opuścić rodzinny Wiedeń w ramach Kindertransportów i znalazła się w Londynie. Książka jest opowieścią o cierpieniu, tęsknocie i utracie, ale także o tym, że muzyka pomaga przetrwać najtrudniejsze chwile.
Polskie tłumaczenie książki w przekładzie Bożeny Keff zostało wydane przez Wydawnictwo Austeria.

Wstęp wolny

Spotkanie po polsku i angielsku z tłumaczeniem konsekutywnym poprowadzi Pani Monika Koszyńska, Kierowniczka Sekcji Edukacji Dzieci i Młodzieży Dział Edukacji oraz przedstawicielką USC Shoah Foundation w Polsce. W dyskusji weźmie także udział Dr. Anna M. Rosner, pracowniczka naukowa w Żydowski Instytut Historyczny.

Po spotkaniu, o godzinie 19:00 odbędzie się koncert fortepianowy Mony Golabek, która zainspirowana postacią swojej matki, również została pianistką.

'The Children of Willesden Lane': Warsaw premiere of the Polish translation of the book 'Dzieci z Willesden Lane. Pamiętnik muzyki, miłości i przetrwania”.

Austrian Forum of Culture and Taube Center for the Renewal of Jewish Life in Poland Foundation cordially invite you to celebrate the release of the Polish translation of Mona Golabek, a Grammy nominee and the recipient of numerous awards, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant and the People's Award of the International Chopin Competition.

Set in Vienna in 1938, and in London during the Blitz, The Children of Willesden Lane tells the true story of Lisa Jura, a young Jewish pianist who dreams about her concert debut at Vienna’s storied Musikverein concert hall. Mona Golabek is the daughter of Lisa Jura and French resistance fighter Michel Golabek. With the issuing of new ordinances under the Nazi regime, everything for Lisa changes, except for her love of music and the pursuit of her dream, as she is torn from her family and sent on the Kindertransport to London.

Join us for a discussion of The Children of Willesden Lane, moderated by Monika Koszyńska, Head of the Children and Youth Education Section, POLIN Museum, and Regional Consultant in
Poland for the USC Shoah Foundation, with author Mona Golabek, and Dr. Anna M Rosner, scholar, Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute.

Dr. Anna M. Rosner graduated from Warsaw University and Parkes Institute at Southampton University. She received a Ph.D. at Warsaw University and focused on Jewish migrations to London in the nineteenth century. She is currently employed in the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw and deals mostly with post-war Jewish demographic issues, her book on the Central Jewish Committee's Department of Statistics and Registration is coming out this summer. Her other professional interests is Kindertransports and other pre-war programs of refugee aid.
The discussion will be held in Polish with English consecutive translation.

Free entrance

After the meeting, at 7:00 pm a piano concert of Mona Golabek will take place, who, inspired by her mother, also became a pianist.
