Austriackie Forum Kultury zaprasza na wystawę, na której zaprezentowane zostaną nowe prace artystów. Podczas wernisażu odbędzie się część performatywna, podczas której Justina Los (Polen Performance) opowie o (zerwanej) przyjaźni, trudach pracy i bycia razem na odległość, a Stephan Blumenschein dokona analizy wernisażu, jako potencjalnego medium twórczego.
Sytuacja kuratorska zawsze związana jest z gościnnością. Pociąga za sobą zaproszenia dla artystów, dzieł sztuki, kuratorów, odbiorców, a czasem także instytucji; ludzie i przedmioty są przyjmowane, goszczone i tymczasowo razem ze sobą przebywają. Jest swoistym udogodnieniem dla komfortu osobistego i rzeczowego, a także reakcją na potrzebę uznania, szacunku lub uwagi. Wreszcie, i co bardzo ważne, sytuacja kuratorska funkcjonuje w przestrzeni między bezwarunkową akceptacją drugiego podmiotu a ograniczeniami legitymizowanymi przez różne reguły i przepisy.

Jak decyzja artysty o wzięciu odpowiedzialności za wszelkie dodatkowe kwestie, które formułują się dzięki wspólnocie – w tworzeniu, wykonywaniu, produkcji, wystawianiu, czy po prostu byciu razem wpływa na sztukę? Kto jest gospodarzem, gdy performer przejmuje kontrolę? Jakie, w czasach, kiedy obcowanie z kulturą i sztuką ma charakter eventu jest znaczenie wernisażu? I wreszcie, jak tak naprawdę rozumieć sztukę, jeśli wszelkie podtrzymujące ją struktury są ukryte?

Austrian Cultural Forum invites you for an exhibition that presents new works of the artists. During the exhibition's opening Justina Los (Polen Performance) introduces a story-telling performance about (broken) friendship and difficulties in long-distance, working relationship. With his performative reading, Stephan Blumenschein looks at the exhibition’s opening as a potential medium of making art.
A curatorial situation is always one of hospitality. It implies invitations to artists, artworks, curators, audiences, and sometimes also institutions; people and objects are received, welcomed, and temporarily brought together. It offers resources for material and physical support while also responding to a need for recognition, respect, or attention. Finally, and very importantly, a curatorial situation operates in the space between an unconditional acceptance of the other and exclusions legitimized through various rules and regulations.

What happens when an exhibition, or actually its very opening is a work of art itself? What if the artist takes subjective responsibility for the surplus meaning that the moment of togetherness – in making, performing, producing, exhibiting and simply being– itself adds to the work? Who is the host, when the performer takes control? What, in the times, when all art is an event, is the meaning of the opening itself? And finally, what’s the meaning of art when its support structures are hidden?
