Lend your ear to the Saharan sands whispering tales of marauding demons, unsettling animal stalkers, and sorcerers drinking tea with invisible companions. Beware, though, for if you listen for too long, you may hear a child’s voice calling you deeper and deeper into the unknown.

Taking you on this journey is traveler, journalist, and photographer Maciej Jastrzębski, who sat with the Ababda — a tribe inhabiting the mountains and coastline of Egypt’s Eastern Sahara and Sudan — and transcribed their first-hand accounts of the supernatural. Recounting these thrilling stories, Maciej will lead you through the stark yet breathtakingly beautiful landscapes of the Sahara and the Red Sea through his photographs.

This presentation is likely the only one in Poland, and one of the few worldwide, dedicated to the Ababda and their immaterial culture — a heritage now under threat from the tempting prospects promised by globalization.
