„Zobaczyć (zmiany) klimat(u)” to projekt artystyczno-badawczy zainicjowany na początku 2020 roku przez Romualda Krężela i René Alejandro Huari Mateus’a w Akademii Schloss Solitude w Stuttgarcie. Artyści skupili się w nim na zagadnieniach zrównoważonego rozwoju i degradacji środowiska naturalnego w kontekście sztuk performatywnych. Szukając różnych strategii performatywnych i choreograficznych, podejmują w nim spekulatywną próbę ujrzenia niedostrzegalnego – klimatu i jego zmian.
Inspiracją projektu była teoria hiperobiektów Timothego Mortona. Artyści pracowali z jednym osobliwym obiektem – mobilnym domkiem szklarniowym, zamieszkałym przez 25 roślin doniczkowych i dwóch opiekujących się nimi performerów. Cieplarnia – obiekt kojarzony ze wzrostem, pielęgnacją, bezpieczeństwem i troską, jest jednocześnie wizualnym symbolem globalnego ocieplenia (efektu cieplarnianego), kontrolowanej natury i regulowanego klimatu.
W „Zobaczyć (zmiany) klimat(u)” Romuald i René kreują wspólną zmysłową przestrzeń dla możliwych spotkań ludzkiego z nie-ludzkim – krajobraz wypełniony performatywnymi działaniami, afektami i wytwarzanymi na żywo obrazami. W Biennale Warszawa artyści zaprezentują fragment performansu work-in-progress, zapraszając widzów do wspólnej dyskusji.

work-in-progress performance
“To See Climate (Change)” is an artistic research project initiated at the beginning of 2020 by Romuald Krężel and René Alejandro Huari Mateus in Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart. Being focused on questions of sustainability and environmental destruction they have been searching for different performative and choreographic strategies that could allow us to see unseeable – climate and its changes.
Inspired by the theory of hyperobjects proposed by philosopher Timothy Morton, they worked with one specific object – a mobile greenhouse inhabited by 25 potted house- plants and two performers, taking care of them. A greenhouse – usually associated with protection, growing and preservation, is at the same time the visual symbol of global warming (greenhouse effect), controlled nature and regulated climate. Looking for the possible exchanges between humans and non-humans Romuald and Rene created a peculiar landscape of images, encounters, and atmospheres, inviting the audience to have a look at it.
In Warsaw Biennale artists will present a part of their work-in-progress performance, inviting the audience to the open discussion after.
