A co jeśli już żyjemy w przyszłość? Jeśli wcale nie jest ona czymś odległym?
Fikcja ćwiczy naszą wyobraźnię, umiejętność strukturyzowania naszego przeszłego i teraźniejszego doświadczenia; to warsztat z antycypacji, proroctw i stwarzania wyimaginowanych, nowych form życia. Wystawa Nie ma nic bardziej fikcyjnego niż nasza rzeczywistość przedstawia fikcję jako praktykę projektowania graficznego mającą na celu eksplorację i krytykę możliwych przyszłości. Paulina Trzeciak rozciąga język projektowania graficznego daleko poza relacje klient-zleceniobiorca. Artystkę interesuje krytyczny potencjał jaki niesie ze sobą ta dziedzina sztuki i w jaki sposób może zostać on wykorzystany.
Jeśli wszystko można wgrać do wirtualnej chmury, to czy trzeba jeszcze o czymkolwiek pamiętać?
Wspomniana praktyka tworzy spekulacyjne scenariusze opowiedziane za pomocą stworzonych przez artystkę artefaktów. Zaprezentowane na wystawie flagi przyglądają się roli narodowych identyfikacji oraz koncepcji i pozycji państwa w neoliberalnej ekonomii. Projektantka bada napięcie między wzrostem nastrojów nacjonalistycznych a procesami rozkładu państw w wyniku dyktatury wolnego rynku.
Druga praca to seria esejów wizualnych, które czerpią z praktyki badań artystycznych (artistic research), stawiając w centrum plakatu pytanie badawcze (research question). Eseje wizualne przyglądają się doświadczeniu obecności takich zjawisk jak globalne ocieplenie czy internet. Mimo, że wydają się one abstrakcyjnymi ideami, związane z nimi procesy mają niepodważalny i formujący wpływ na otaczająca nas rzeczywistość. Wystawie towarzyszy praca dźwiękowa – wiersz oprowadzający po Dolinie Krzemowej – technologicznym i finansowym centrum świata.

What if the future is where we are inhabiting today and is not something far away beyond the horizon?
Fiction is a tool to train our imagination and ability to structure our past and present experience; it is about anticipation, prophetical assumptions and construction of the imaginary forms of the human existence. The exhibition There Is Nothing More Fictional Than Our Reality wants to propose fiction as a design practice, in which it aims at exploring and criticizing possible futures by narrating through speculative scenarios and designed artifacts.
If everything can be uploaded to the cloud, do we still have to remember our past?
Paulina Trzeciak pushes the language of graphic design beyond its client-based connotations, giving it its own individual position and voice. Flags take a closer look at the concept of post-state condition, of where all national identifications will perish for the sake of neoliberal economy. Flags investigate the tension between the rise of nationalist sentiments and the processes of the disappearing states as a result of market-driven dictatorship. The other piece serves as a series of visual essays which bring attention to artistic research practice which places the research questions in the heart of the design. The work asks about the complexity of living in capitalist ruins and being haunted by the presence of enormous things – hyper objects such as global warming or the internet. We tend to think of them as abstract ideas because we can’t get our heads around them, but they are nevertheless real. Unanswered questions will rely on the viewers’ ability to exercise their imagination. The graphic design artifacts will be accompanied by a soundscape — an immersive poem on Silicon Valley’s sacredness.

Paulina Trzeciak (Piła, PL) is a visual artist and designer with a wide range of artistic practices. Paulina is currently based in The Hague, where she is finishing her bachelor in Graphic Design at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK).
Before starting art studies in 2017 she received a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts at the University of Warsaw. Her thesis examined the commodification of art and degradation of engaged and critical strategies in the perspective of choreography and performance art.
Paulina’s practice is highly influenced by her academic background, as seen in her frequent incorporation of social theories and political perspectives. In the field of design, her main interests are conceptual design, digital culture and curation. Privately: pad thai with tofu and cashew nuts lover.
