Wewnątrz ram obecnej kondycji ludzkiej różne tryby proliferacji zostały wchłonięte przez ciało społeczne, czyniąc z nich centralny filar produktywności. W mikrokosmosie tworzenia obrazu, dzieło sztuki podlega specjalnej serii kontekstualizacji i rekontekstualizacji, gdy zostaje ono zmuszone do zmierzenia się z wielością wtórnych żyć, które z niego powstają. Gwałtowna ekspansja każdej możliwej kategoryzacji przedmiotu zrodziła świat, wewnątrz którego wszystko jest wszystkim i niczym jednocześnie. Praktyka Leonardo Mendoza i Jana Ciałowicza jest poszukiwaniem sposobów współczesnej hiperłączności różnych aspektów egzystencji i konsumpcji. Przeskakując przez wskazówki wizualne zaczerpnięte z mang do Upadłego Anioła Cabanela, od spuścizny tradycyjnej awangardy po produkty mediów masowych, duo to zestawia ze sobą różne znaki kulturowe, tworząc serię prac otoczonych niepewnym nastrojem. Przesuwając się w górę i w dół po stadiach rzeczywistości i symulakrum Baudelaire’a powstaje narracja, która przenosi paradygmatyczne figury w nowy kontekst przewartościowujący ich znaczenia w ramach obecnej kultury. Nad wszystkimi tymi elementami unosi się widmo sfery technologicznej, która nieodwracalnie przekształciła relację łączącą przedmiot/znak z podmiotem. W prezentowanych pracach zilustrowane stają się różne typy relacji i rodzajów postrzegania własnego środowiska (indywidualnego/prywatnego i społecznego/publicznego)
LEONARDO MENDOZA jest absolwentem meksykańskiej Narodowej Szkoły malarstwa, rzeźby i druku, w swojej twórczości operuje mediami klasycznymi i digitalnym. Jego prace są eksploracją trybów łączności, które odkrywają relacje świadomości indywidualnej i kolektywnej. Główny źródłem inspiracji dla jego obecnej twórczości są związki wychodzące z rozwoju technologicznego i interakcji z nim.
JAN CIAŁOWICZ jest absolwentem wydziału grafiki warszawskiej ASP, zajmuje się przede wszystkim pracą graficzną, ilustracyjną i projektową. W swojej twórczości operuje między dwoma skrajnościami – przesytu i pustki i całej rzeszy możliwych interpretacji tych dwóch pojęć.

Inside the current human condition various modes of proliferation are thoroughly integrated into the body of the socius, making them into a central pillar of productivity. Within the microcosm of image creation, the work of art is subject to a special series of contextualisations and recontextualisations when it is forced to face the multiplicity of secondary lives that are created out of it. The rapid expansion of every possible categorisation of an object birthed a world in which everything is everything and nothing is anything all at once. Leonardo Mendoza’s and Jan Ciałowicz’s practice constitutes a search into modes of modern hyperconnectivity of various facets of existence and consumption. Jumping through visual cues drawn from mangas into Cabanel’s Fallen Angel, from the legacy of the traditional avant garde into products of mass media, the duo juxtaposes various cultural signs that create a series of works framed by an uncertain mood. Sliding up and down Baudelaire’s scale of the real and the simulacrum a narrative is formed that transfers paradigmatic figures into a new context that reevaluates their meaning within the current culture. Above all these elements looms the specter of the technological sphere, that irreversibly transformed the relationship binding the object/sign and the subject. Various types of relationships with and the perception of one’s own environment (individual/private and social/public) become illustrated within the presented works.
LEONARDO MENDOZA is a graduate of the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Printing in Mexico City, his practice consists of a mix of classical and digital media. His work explores modes of communication, discovering through it the relationships of the individual and the collective consciousness. The main source of inspiration of his current practice are the relations that emerge from technological development and possible interactions with it.
JAN CIAŁOWICZ is a graduate of the Graphics Department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, his practice primarily consists of graphic, illustrative and design work. His artistic output operates between two extremes - satiety and emptiness, and a multitude of possible interpretations of these two concepts.
