Original Tandem: Kampinoski Hike

At a loose end on the national holiday Boże Ciało, Thursday 30 May? Everyone else has escaped to the sea or mountains? No worries! You can join Original Tandem for a 15 km ramble through Las Kampinoski, taking in swamps (no alligators), an ancient oak tree monument, a couple of ’mountains’ (well, hills - the highest is 101 metres) and the war cemetery and museum at Palmiry, a sobering memorial to Warsaw civilians murdered in WWII.

Start: 10.05 Metro Młociny 03 bus stop (turn right out of the northern metro station entrance and cross the road). Bus 150 leaves at 10.26 and won’t wait! Unless you have a Warszawska Karta Miejska transport card, you’ll need to buy a ticket from the machine on the bus.

Finish: about 16.00, Skibińskiego 01 bus stop in Truskaw village. Bus 210 to Młociny metro station leaves every half an hour. We hope to get the 16.20 (arrive 16.48) or 16.50 (arrive 17.18).

What to take: suitable clothes (it’s going to be warm - up to 26 deg - but is always cooler in the forest), comfortable walking shoes, hat, enough water and food (no shops on the route), insect repellent and a positive attitude!
