This time, we will take a break from difficult and painful stories. I invite you to watch my favorite comedy from the 90s. Although it is not the highest quality cinema, many people consider "Boys Don’t Cry" to be the last great Polish comedy. What has happened in Polish comedy cinema since 2000 is generally below any standard and simply unwatchable. "Chłopaki nie płaczą" ("Boys Don’t Cry") is a film that portrays the Polish criminal world as full of inept posers trying to emulate their counterparts from the USA. Similar to the movie "Kiler", we follow the story of an ordinary guy who accidentally gets involved in gangster conflicts. The film is full of gags and iconic lines that Poles still use in everyday life. Unfortunately, we will also hear a few lines bordering on racism and - of course, as always - sexism.

We will discuss, among other things, how much the director of "Boys..." tries to criticize these attitudes, which were still very present in the Polish mainstream in the year 2000. There are even interpretations suggesting that "Boys Don’t Cry" attempts to deconstruct the toxic masculine role models proposed to us by films like "Psy".
