Zapraszamy na 🧠 Pseudo-warsztaty z utopii edukacyjnej kolonii artystycznej🧠 pierwsze z serii wydarzeń dotyczących dziedzictwa amerykańskiego awangardowego eksperymentu edukacyjnego znanego jako Black Mountain College. ***
Wychodząc przede wszystkim od założeń Black Mountain College’u i Fluxusu (w szczególności George’a Maciunasa), a także filozofii Johna Deweya spróbujemy na jeden dzień stworzyć w Zachęcie performatywną eksperymentalno-edukacyjną kolonię artystyczną. Wspólnie zastanowimy się również nad zasadnością niezależnych ośrodków edukacji artystycznej i potrzebie funkcjonowania kolonii artystów w dzisiejszym świecie.

🟢Kuratorka: Weronika Trojańska
Weronika Trojańska jest artystką zafascynowaną awangardą i pojęciem autobiografikcji, która czasem pisze o sztuce. Mieszka i pracuje pomiędzy Bydgoszczą a Wrocławiem, gdzie obecnie jest doktorantką na ASP im. Eugeniusza Gepperta.

W ramach wydarzeń tego dnia:
🟢wykład performatywny Antoniego Michnika "45 for a speaker & translator"
Postcage’owski w formule wykład performatywny, w formie nawiązujący do słynnych utworów-wykładów autora "Wykładu o niczym", zaś w treści – umieszczający jego eksperymenty w Black Mountain College w kontekście innych zjawisk oraz postaci związanych z uczelnią, a także w kontekście praktyki edukacyjnej samego Cage’a.
Antoni Michnik jest historykiem kultury, performerem, kuratorem, współzałożycielem researchersko-performatywnej Grupy ETC, a od roku 2013 redaktorem w magazynie „Glissando”.
🟢performans Klaudii Szott
Inspiracją realizacyjną performansu stały się: utwór "Born, Never Asked" autorstwa Laurie Anderson oraz myśl Johna Deweya. John Dewey był człowiekiem opętanym myśleniem ewolucyjnym. Żył w uwielbieniu roli granej przez środowisko i w zachwycie nad początkiem. Narracja przetkana esejem "Corpus" Jeana-Luca Nancy, a przede wszystkim – osobistym faktem ciała pragnącym warunków równości.
Klaudia Szott jest osobą finalizującą studia na Wydziale Artes Liberales Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Fascynuje się punktem zero, Pulcinellą, improwizacją kontaktową i vogue’iem, które tańczy i pisze.
🟢działanie performatywne Doroty Porowskiej
Działanie oparte o strukturę labiryntu, jako tworze graficznym i myślowym, połączonym z rytmiką antycznego wiersza. Eksperyment nawiązujący do prostych zachowań życiowych jak chodzenie, zmiana kierunku, wybór stron świata - ich rytmie i energii. A wszystko to umiejscowione w pustej, naznaczonej nieograniczonym potencjałem, przestrzeni. Działanie nawiązuje szczególnie do grafik i procesu dydaktycznego Josefa Albersa.
Dorota Porowska była aktorką Ośrodka Praktyk Teatralnych „Gardzienice” oraz współtwórczynią formacji Tańców Labiryntu i Stowarzyszenia Teatralnego "Chorea". Prowadzi szeroko zakrojoną działalność edukacyjną.

*** Black Mountain College to niezależna szkoła artystyczna założona w 1933 roku w miasteczku Black Mountain w Północnej Karolinie. W BMC uczestniczyli m.in. John Andrew Rice, Josef i Anni Albers, Ruth Asawa, Hazel Larsen Archer, John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Buckminster Fuller, M.C. Richards, Suzi Gablik, Willem i Elaine de Kooning, Lawrence Kocher, Walter Gropius, Robert Rauschenberg, David Tudor, którzy rozwijali radykalny i wyzwalający model edukacji artystycznej opartej o idee Johna Deweya i praktykowany podobnie do kontekstu i programu Bauhausu. W modelu tym przedkłada się niezależną pracę artystyczną nad sztywne programy nauczania; koleżeńskie relacje w ramach wspólnoty artystów nad hierarchiczną strukturę nauczycieli i studentów oraz ciągłą interakcję pomiędzy różnymi dziedzinami sztuki nad zamknięcie się każdej z nich w sobie. BMC zakończył działalność w roku 1957, wywierając przez 24 lata istnienia ogromny wpływ na rozwój idei, obecnych w sztuce do dziś. ***

We invite you to 🧠 Pseudo-Workshop on the educational utopia of an artistic colony 🧠 the first in a series of events on the legacy of the American avant-garde educational experiment known as Black Mountain College.***
Starting from the founding ideas of Black Mountain College and Fluxus (in particular of George Maciunas), as well as the philosophy of John Dewey, we will try to create a performative, experimental and educational artistic colony for one day at the Zachęta. We will also reflect together on the legitimacy of independent artistic education centers and the need for artists’ colonies to function in today’s world.

🟢Curator: Weronika Trojańska
Weronika Trojańska is an artist fascinated by the avant-garde and the notion of autobiografiction, who sometimes writes about the arts. She lives and works between Bydgoszcz and Wrocław, where she is currently a PhD student at the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Fine Arts.

As part of the events of the day:
🟢performative lecture by Antoni Michnik "45’ for a speaker & translator"
A performative lecture that is post-Cage in its formula, alluding in form to the famous work-lectures of the author of "Lecture on Nothing", and in content - placing his experiments at the Black Mountain College in the context of other phenomena and figures associated with the BMC, as well as in the context of Cage’s own educational practice.
Antoni Michnik is a historian of the culture, performer, curator, co-founder of the research-performance ETC Group, and, since 2013, editor of the magazine "Glissando".
🟢lecture/performance by Klaudia Szott
The performance was inspired by the piece "Born, Never Asked" by Laurie Anderson and the thoughts of John Dewey. As she speaks:"John Dewey was a man obsessed with evolutionary thinking. He was fascinated by the role played by the environment and in awe of the beginnings. Here is a narrative interspersed with Jean-Luc Nancy’s "Corpus" essay and, above all, a personal fact of a body desiring conditions of equality."
Klaudia Szott is a graduate student at the Faculty of Artes Liberales, University of Warsaw. She is fascinated by point zero, Pulcinella, contact improvisation and vogue, which she dances and writes.
🟢performative action by Dorota Porowska
An action based on the structure of a labyrinth, as a graphic and mental creation, combined with the rhythm of an ancient poem. An experiment referring to simple life behaviours such as walking, changing direction, choosing sides of the world - their rhythm and energy. And all this placed in an empty space, marked by unlimited potential. The action makes particular reference to Josef Albers’ graphics and didactic process.
Dorota Porowska was a performer at the Centre for Theatre Practices "Gardzienice" and the co-founder of the Labyrinth Dances formation and the "Chorea" Theatre Association. She conducts extensive educational activities.

*** Black Mountain College is an independent art school founded in 1933 in the town of Black Mountain, North Carolina. BMC participants have included John Andrew Rice, Josef and Anni Albers, Ruth Asawa, Hazel Larsen Archer, John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Buckminster Fuller, M.C. Richards, Suzi Gablik, Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Lawrence Kocher, Walter Gropius, Robert Rauschenberg, David Tudor, who developed a radical and liberating model of artistic education based on the ideas of John Dewey and practiced similarly to the Bauhaus context and program. This model favoured independent artistic work over rigid curricula; collegial relationships within a community of artists over a hierarchical structure of teachers and students; and continuous interaction between different art disciplines over the self-containment of each. The BMC came to an end in 1957, exerting an enormous influence during its 24 years of existence on the development of ideas that are still present in the arts today.
