◆ Pomyślałam o takim tytule, który podkreśliłby wagę opowieści, z których zbudowane są prace. Specjalnie nie używam słowa ,,sen”, bo jak się komuś coś przyśniło, to łatwo to zinfantylizować, podejść do tego jak do czegoś niepoważnego, spoza kanonu ,,prawdziwości’. Taka pooświeceniowa jazda na racjonalizm, intelekt i wiedzę skatalogowaną w księgach, oczywiście kosztem emocji, duchowości i całej ,,damskiej” sfery przeżyć.

Tytuł jest kalką z mojej ukochanej płyty PJ Harvey, ’Stories from the city, stories from the sea’, ale teksty czy muzyka nie są głównymi elementami interpretacyjnymi; kierowałam się homonimią ˈbɒdi/bɛd (sɪti/si:) - słowa brzmią podobnie i są kluczowe dla całej wystawy.

Alicja Paszkiel - artystka intermedialna, performerka, absolwentka Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Warszawie, swoje prace pokazywała m.in. na WGW - Crash Club (2023), KIN (Pavillon am Milchhof, 2023), w Galerii Wschodniej (2022, 2023) czy w galerii Przyszła Niedoszła (2021-2023). Tworzyła działania performatywne m.in. we współpracy z Galerią Labirynt w Lublinie (Performance Platform 2023), Teatrem Studio (WWC 2022), Goethe Institut (2021), Instytutem Adama Mickiewicza (Art House 2020). Współzałożycielka inicjatywy Fringe Warszawa.

◆ I thought of a title that would emphasise the importance of the stories that the works are made of. I deliberately do not use the word ’dream’, because if you dream something, it is easy to romanticise it, to approach it as something frivolous, outside the canon of ’truthfulness’. Such a post-Enlightenment drive for rationalism, intellect and knowledge catalogued in books, obviously at the expense of emotion, spirituality and the whole "female" sphere of experiences.

The title is a carbon copy of my beloved PJ Harvey album, ’Stories from the city, stories from the sea’, but the lyrics or music are not the main interpretative elements; I was guided by the homonymy of ˈbɒdi/bɛd (sɪti/si:) - the words sound similar and are central to the whole exhibition.

Alicja Paszkiel - intermedia artist, performer, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, has shown her work at WGW - Crash Club (2023), KIN (Pavillon am Milchhof, 2023), at the East Gallery (2022, 2023) or at the Future Unfound gallery (2021-2023), among others.
