Warsztat prowadzony przez Martę Bogdańską (PL) i Kelley O’Brien (USA) skupi się na rozwijaniu narzędzi oraz na rozpoznawaniu metod i sposobów komunikacji międzygatunkowej. Warsztat rozpocznie wspólna lektura krótkich tekstów, które pomogą nam określić, w jaki sposób rośliny i zwierzęta wymieniają się informacjami. Następnie uczestnicy zostaną zaproszeni do badania i włączenia się w dialog z roślinami, zwierzętami i osobami poprzez performatywne, hipotetyczne i partycypacyjne działania. Warsztat odbędzie się na jednej z działek w Rodzinnym Ogrodzie Działkowym Energomontaż-Północ (ul. Idzikowskiego, Mokotów), gdzie uczestnicy będą mieli okazję do odkrywania i inspirowania się. Zachęcamy do aktywnego udziału!

Plants, Animals, + People: Communicating Across Species

Led by Marta Bogdanska (PL) and Kelley O’Brien (USA), "Plants, Animals, + People: Communicating Across Species" will focus on developing tools, and for acknowledging methods and modes of interspecies communication. The workshop will begin with a selection of short ’readings’, which will help us frame how plants and animals exchange information. From there, participants will be encouraged to explore and engage in a dialogue with plants, animals and others, through performative, hypothetical, or participatory actions. The workshop will take place in a private garden @ ROD Energomontaż-Północ, where participants will have first-hand opportunities to explore and be inspired. Active participation is encouraged!
The workshop will be conducted in English, all materials will be provided, and is run in conjunction with the upcoming exhibition at Stroboskop (opening Friday, 06.08) "The Liberation of Terra Superna" by Kelley O’Brien.

The workshop is supported by the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro through a Faculty First Grant and a Kohler Grant, and “Naprzód działki”/ SAM Rozkwit, funded by the Greenery Department of Warsaw.

Kelley O’Brien is an interdisciplinary artist working in the American South. Kelley’s work negotiates boundaries between industrial and “natural” landscapes, to explore cultural links between gender hierarchy and the domination of the natural world. Her work parallels the death and rebirth of ecosystems and social movements, in hopes of giving context to our environments. She has exhibited at the CICA Museum (Korea), National College of Art and Design (Ireland) as well as Transformer Station, McDonough Museum of Art and The Everson Museum of Art in the United States. Kelley has been awarded grants from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Ohio Arts Council, Wexford Arts Council, and a Fulbright Scholarship to the Philippines.

Marta Bogdańska is a Polish photographer, visual artist, filmmaker & cultural manager. She holds an MA degree in Philosophy from Warsaw University and graduated from the Academy of Photography, School of Seeing & Open Institute in Warsaw. Marta lived and worked in Lebanon for 8 years, where she realized many artistic & cultural projects. With additional background in gender studies & activism Marta’s artistic work focuses on geopolitical and social issues, gossip & fiction, as well as personal experiences. She experiments with various media including participatory workshops and sound installations. Marta is a member of the Archive of Public Protests and has exhibited her work at FIF Belo Horizonte - International Festival of Photography, Encontros Da Imagem & Imago Lisboa Photo Festival, TIFF Festival Wroclaw, OBSCURA Festival of Photography, ODESA PHOTO DAYS, FOTOFESTIVAL ŁÓDŹ, MILANO DESIGN FILM FESTIVAL, ARCHITECTURE FILM FESTIVAL ROTTERDAM, and BLICA - First Lebanese Biennale of Arts. Recently, her photobook SHIFTERS has been nominated for the LUMA Rencontres Dummy Book Award Arles 2020, the KASSEL DUMMY AWARD 2020 & the Mack First Book Award 2020.
